1999 Renault Clio Petrol Manual Hatchback by eva • 11th March 2014
I had an o2 clio as my first car and I loved it to bits but sadly sold it :( ended up with a 1999 clio and it was gud for the first 4 weks and after that there was bangs, bumps and ratle out of it, starter went, kept boiling every week, cluch went, wheel bern keeps going and the inside of the tyres keep cutting as tyres never ever keep straight no matter what you do. say the else the news clio's are the best and easy's to run.

This was my second renault megane (bought in 2012) - my first ever car being a renault megane approx 10 years ago! I've been lucky to drive many 'high grade' company cars, but with a change in career, this was my first personal purchase of a car. The car looked really sporty, was very comfortable to drive, but one of the best things was its low running costs - diesel version. It fell into a low tax bracket and the insurance was very palatable! This is a fantastic car, with all the style of a car twice its price!

In 2009 I bought a used Renault Megane 1.9Dci (2005) with 27k miles on the clock. I paid £6k for it and initially was very pleased with the car and it's performance. It gets plenty of mpg, and is actually a really nice car to drive.
But then the problems started. First the electrics started to go. The electrics in the driver window failed and needed to be fixed. Renault agreed to pay 50% of the bill. The glow plugs need to be replacement on a reglular basis (check injection message will appear on the trip computer)
Then, with 76k miles on the clock, the megane started to burn an alarming aount of oil. I replaced the oil filter and gave it a good flush out. But to no avail. One week later the Turbo blew on it. This can cost from £600 to £1000 to replace.
I ended up selling it on for virtually nothing after doing a lot of research on the web and came to the conclusion that the blown turbo was only the beginning of the problems.

Before you buy a Renault Megane (03 onwards), PLEASE PLEASE do some research on the web and I guarantee you will look elsewhere. Just do a search for "Renault Megane turbo failure" or "Renault Megane engine failure" and you will see just how common this problem is with the Renault Megane.
If I could go back in time I would never have bought it and I can assure you I will never buy another Renault.

Love this car, so roomy, lovely to drive, flexible layout, and light interior all make up for the low mpg. If you buy a well serviced old model, you won't be disappointed!

My scenic has just turned two years old with 26,000 miles on it and im over the moon with it, This is my second scenic and have to admit the new model has came on leaps and bounds from the older model. Driving to Dublin on a regular basis i get 55-58 MPG and the specification of the Dynamique Tom Tom is everything you would need in a car. Overall very impressed

2003 Renault Avantime Petrol Automatic Coupe by Luke McCorry • 7th January 2012
A Renault what? That's the response you have to get used to when owning an Avantime. I understand there are about 5 of these in Northern Ireland, a very rare sight indeed... I had to have one.

Turns heads and attracts questions EVERYWHERE it goes, not a car for people who like to blend in. "Open air" mode opens all windows and the glass roof to make for a pillar-less coupé to attract even more attention. No journey is the same, it's a constant novelty driving the thing!

Being a 3.0 V6 Petrol, it's obviously no Prius to run, but the thing can move. 20 MPG can be seen if you're careful, road tax is £260 for the year. It's very impractical, despite being a huge car there's next to no rear legroom. Reliability is typically Renault. But really... who cares when you're driving one of the most distinctive, special and unique cars on the road? The Renault Avantime really is a hidden treasure, I'll never sell mine.

2007 Renault Laguna Diesel Manual Estate by nornironpool1 • 22nd December 2011
Bought this 07 Laguna Nav Est 3 weeks ago to replace my previous 01 Laguna II Estate. It served me very well for 8 years and clocked up 199000 miles before broken timing belt (due to not replacing on schedule) caused it to die. This had done some very hard driving and towed a lot of builders trailers!!! Had absolutely no second thoughts about buying and driving another Laguna. Very comfortable and nice to drive even on very long journeys (1 day 700 mile round trip to kerry!!). Ok can be a few issues with electrics and French reliability, but what car is trouble free these days.

2003 Renault Laguna Diesel Manual 5 speed Sedan by Ryan • 20th December 2011
I have recently got my hands on 2003 Renault Laguna for an extremely good price as a run around while I look for a permanent car and I have to say it is definitely worth the money, there is plenty of room for the kids in the back. The fuel lasts a good while too probably getting around 45+ mpg out of it. The only thing I was let down with was its reliability on a couple of small things. Over all I was happy enough with this purchase.

2003 Renault Clio Petrol by Tolmeister • 19th December 2011
My first ever car was a Renault Clio. I only have very fond memories of it! The only reason I got rid of it was because I got a company car with my first real job.

It was a great wee car, fairly cheap to insure and tax, and easy on petrol. Very nice to drive, and while I kept it serviced well, never had any mechanical problems at all.

Mine was the "Expression" model, which wouldn't have had many of the fancy extras, but was still stylish and nice inside.
