2004 BMW 5 Series Diesel Automatic Saloon by emey • 12th November 2012
bought my 530d 6months ago its a 06, it realy is the best car i have ever owned, it will do 29/30mpg on avg, on motorway around 45/50mpg. running cost is abit more than your everyday vectra ect, but you dont get vectras like this, its like floting down roads and not driving, but in corners its a go kart!! mates of mine have 04/05 530s the did have the odd oil leek but its always a easy fix, if you dont mind paying extra tax, service, and 19inch tyres arnt cheep!! then get 1 you will not regret it, if you have the few extra £££s it takes to keep them,

Of course yoy will say this car is a piece of shit if you buy a 2000,manual,petrol
BUT DRIVE ONE OF THESE AND ITS A WHOLE DIFFERENT STORY
Voted best in its class, and rightly so.
An absolute pleasure to own and drive, with more than enough power to satisfy anyone(AND ITS DEISEL)
Running costs obviously a little higher than most cars, but hey, what do you expect from a BMW 3 litre turbo deisel.
All in all a great car with a bullet proof engine that will be the envy of all your friends!
2003 BMW 5 Series Petrol Saloon by Mocsoft • 17th December 2011
The 5 series is a great example of a big German saloon at its best, fantastic build quality, reliable, powerful and so smooth! The 2.5 litre inline 6 has to be one of the best engines ever built, linear power delivery and a rasping sound higher up the rev range, on a cruise or driven sensibly you won't hear a peep, almost eerily quiet. With combined driving I average around 34 mpg which is great for a big petrol saloon like this.
There are times where I'd prefer more power and torque low down so for that reason and budget permitting I would recommend the 525 or 530.
