2013 Toyota Avensis Diesel Manual Sedan by Avensis fan • 2nd January 2014
I've had my car for 6 months from new. Very well built with an excellent touch screen Satnav and built in Bluetooth. The car is very quick with lots of torque and returns 60+mpg with only £30 road tax. Niggles; not as roomy as the older model and the lack of a hatchback option reduces load carrying flexibility; taller drivers need to try getting into the driving seat before buying as my knees get caught under the steering column; the electronic handbrake button is hard to reach and sometimes doesn't automatically apply when the ignition is switched off which can be unnerving; I find it difficult to get a good driving position and the rear seats are hard and uncomfortable; the reversing camera is difficult to get used to and is more a means of checking for pedestrians at night rather a practical parking aid.

All in all, a very reliable car that I would certainly buy again hoping the Mr T sorts out the niggles next time.

I have owned this car from new and im still driving it every day 17 years later. There has never been anthing that went wrong with the car except what you would call normal wear and tear.Ball joints in the front suspension last about 5 yrs then you need to replace the wishbones. With almost 220000 miles on the clock it still starts first time.the exhaust lasted to 136000 and still using the replacement.original starter and alternator still working.gone through 3 clutch kits ,original drives and cv joints, easy and cheap to service, not the best driving car in the world (a bit boaty) on the bends but it is reliable and the bodywork is in very good condition even though i have NEVER polished it in my life-I can honestly say it is the best car I have ever owned ,neighbours all comment on it as its been here before most of them. All I can say is thank you to FIAT I,d take another one tomorrow

1994 Mercedes C-Class Diesel Manual Sedan by Ryan McA • 24th September 2014
What a car! Had this motor in 2012 for about 4 months. She had moon shuttle mileague, over 200K and drove like a dream literally. Started to give bother and was air locking and cutting out diesel. Every time I cleared the air she went great for 10+ miles then done it again. Too old to put the money into so let her go but a testament to Mercedes quality. Reliable big bus when running well. Car was 18 going on 19 when I had it so she definately done her time and probably over again. Alreay planning/saving for a newer Benz. BMW/Audis etc are great motors too but the Mercs just ooze of quality and sophistication!

2006 BMW 3 Series Diesel Automatic 6 speed Estate by Ian Wilkinson • 23rd June 2015
I have driven this car for over 6 years, having bought it with 62,000 miles on the clock. It's now covered 155,000 miles and boy does it put a smile on my face! The straight 6 cylinder engine must be one of the best in production cars as is its 6 speed auto tiptronic box. I always drive it in manual mode. What a compromise - 0-60 in 6 secs and 37 mpg. I've had 2 large Canadian canoes on the roof bars, 2 kayaks and 4 bikes (3 different loads in case you're wondering!). Absolutely brilliant tail out handling with traction control off - very predictable (370lbft of torque!). Selling it to buy another, 6 years younger one - 2012 F30 version. Hope it's as much fun!

2004 Nissan Micra Petrol Manual Hatchback by CL • 25th November 2015
The Nissan Micra S was my first car and I loved it, never had any issues with it and I found it great to run. I never thought about a Micra as i always thought of it to be a car that elderly people tended to go for, but I found a lot of younger people were driving around in it, I loved the little bubble wagon.

After nearly 10 years and over 100k miles, the 407 has had little more than routine maintenance. The 1.6 HDi is a modern and economical engine if not the most powerful. Pretty smooth to drive, glides over the potholes easily.

2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE Diesel AUTO by Elderflower • 15th January 2017
Drives well. Love the space and the fact that its a luxury drive with the heated leather seats and all the trimmings including the 2 seat setting electric option. Looks the part too! Kerbs are a worry of yesterday. Its a little heavier on the juice than a smaller car, but you expect this for the size and the comfort. Its ahead of its time for comfort and the nice extras. Its also great to be sitting up over the traffic, looking down on most vehicles and being able to see further ahead than I could if is was sitting in a lower car. Its a breeze in the colder, icier weather.

Wasn't aware these are all awd/4wd but glad I got it. Absolutely love this car. Gorgeous to drive, smooth, holds road very well and for a big car it feels sporty and sleek. Bit more fuel consumption compared to the old 1.9 tdi. Roughly 80 mile to 15 quid diesel at 1.18 litre. Roughly 35+ mpg. Not terrible but not great either.

SEAT Ibiza FR TDI (130)
100%
2008 Seat Ibiza Diesel Manual Hatchback by D • 16th April 2018
Owned my 2008 SEAT Ibiza FR TDI for 2 years now.
RELIABILITY:I have only replaced suspension parts which is basic wear and tear. The 1.9 TDI pd engine is renowned for being bulletproof.
PERFORMANCE: All I can say is wow, for a diesel this car can fairly shift. Admittedly, I had the car remapped to 168bhp and 305 lb/ft of torque and the performance is amazing. Second gear pull is vicious and really throws you into the back of the seat, sure there is a bit of lag but what diesel doesn't. In-gear acceleration is what makes this car so good, and It has beaten many more expensive 'performance' cars, even off the lights. Remember this car weighs only 1179kg compared to the fabia vrs, mk4 and mk5 golfs all of which weigh over 1300kg so expect to see them in your rear-view mirror only.
HANDLING: Sadly this is the car's only downside, front-wheel drive diesel is never going to be the best handling car but it just doesn't feel as planted as an audi a3. There is a bit of body roll in the corners (lowering might help this) and grip levels aren't the most confidence inspiring even with decent tyres. However, the biggest disappointment is the car's steering which is just far too light and provides barely any feedback, very numb and as a result the car is just very little fun around a twisty road. A mk2 focus will handle better.
RUNNING COSTS: Cheap to run. Tax is £150 a year. Around town I get 35MPG with a heavy right foot, motorway MPG should be in the 50's. I run the car exclusively on BP Ultimate Diesel as the car runs FAR SMOOTHER AND FASTER on this fuel when compared to regular diesel. Tyres are around £100 a corner for premium brands on 17" wheels. Servicing is every 10k miles and is cheap.
Summary: Excellent car with accessible performance in very gear. Unlike performance petrol cars, you can rake this car everywhere and the fuel needle will barely move. This would be an ideal car for someone who wants a quick car but is a bit of a miser when it comes to paying for fuel. Reliability is bulletproof even if the engine is a bit agricultural. BUY ONE!
