2014 Honda Accord Diesel Manual Saloon by Pearse McCartan • 22nd July 2021
Owner for 3 years and best driving and reliable car ever owned. Never in mechanics bar serving and good fuel efficiency. Reluctantly selling due to getting new company vehicle.

I bought this car as ex demo 10 years ago. It has been a very reliable car. Good powerful engine with reasonable fuel economy. Handles well. Bodywork still looks well although alloys showing some age. Has required usual maintenance over the years but no engine issues. Heater slow but gets there I the end. Has served me well and still in good running order.

I have owned 3 different accords and several Hondas from a crx ,prelude ,type r and a stream. This accord was best car I have ever owned it ticks all the boxs and has all the toys you need for a everyday family car I would still have it if it wasnt for unseen circumstances. I had it for 2 years did spend a penny on it accept for servicing and standard wear of this year (brakes, tyres, oils and filters and a drop link) Im a mechanic and I maintained it to a high standard.

Bought this car back in 2013. Never had diesel before but liked the smooth pull from low revs all the way to the max. It is an EX model and got all extras as satnav, heated/electric seats , hands free, sunroof , leather interior, folding mirrors etc - all very nice.Having said that I hit a bad egg. Three monts later had to change flywheel/clutch - completely burned, then timing chain, next year the steering rack leaked and had to be replaced, then the infamous VSI- vehicle stability unit failed. Did all repairs myself but still had to buy the parts. From aside all that look bad and here is the main point: anyone willing to follow my steps of buying 90k or more diesel Honda driven localy and hardly serviced properly is taking huge risk. Even regularly serviced cars with this mileage have to be inspected thoroughly. Any clutch slippage, chain rattles or strange noises - just walk away. Honda parts are very expensive, not to mention labour. I generaly do not trust main dealer servicing so even a car with full service history is not to be taken as a safe buy. Take a mechanic to check it. Now the good things - totally love it ,drives well , equipment that come with EX is good, like the leather interior , satnav, touch screen, heated seats are my favoutite, looks great , it's quiet. Hope this helps a little.

Well what can i say, truly amazing car, ive had my accord now for about 4-5 years, im a taxi driver and i needed a reliable car, i haven't had to spend much on this car now apart from service parts, i bought the car with 130000 on the clock, now reaching 397000 the car will need another clutch and flywheel, but i think thats really good, i will defiantly buy another, hondas the best for reliability, even better than toyota i think..

Bought this car last year as my previous one was Honda and although different model it was absolutely brilliant.Had very expensive repair from the beginning - first the clutch needed replacement with the flywheel then the chains had to go for a total of £1100 parts only. Despite these troubles I just love it.It is smooth and quiet and comfortable .Have done 12k since I bough it and can't fault it except the things above for which I can blame myself only for not having properly tested it. Advise: Do not buy anything without FULL SERVICE HISTORY( Honda preferably),check clutch and chains

I owned this car for 7 years and it is the best car I ever had. Nothing went wrong with it in that time and I just had to replace items due to wear and tear - brakes tyres etc. As a result it was very cheap to run. This was helped by love tax and good fuel economy. I was able to get into the high fifties at times. The car maintained it'd freshness through out the years and looked the part.

Best car I have ever owned (12 yrs and 140000 miles later). Two front disc's and a starter motor was all that was required in that time/mileage. Totally reliable and nice to drive. Can't be bad to that. Well done Honda.

love this car, as all petrol hondas they are trouble free.
For a 2.4 it isnt bad on fuel, not great for short town driving, expect around 22mpg, although it can do 45mpg on long journey.

Had the car for 3 years now and have to say it has been a very good investment. For a 2 litre petrol it is easy on the fuel and the car has never let me down. I make sure the maintenance schedule is kept and I’m anticipating no major issues with this car for years to come.
The car is comfortable, nice to drive, easy to work on (do most servicing myself) and everything just works.
