I have had this car for three years, the only thing that I have had to ever replace has been the wiper blades, tyres and the timing belt... all things you would expect to replace. Huge amount of power, very quiet, very comfortable, amazing hifi - would highly recommend this car for the family. Three years of great driving so far (and the car is six years old!)

2008 Volkswagen Jetta Diesel Manual Saloon by Gin • 21st November 2013
I Bought a 2008 2.0 sport Jetta with 52,000 on the clock in March 2013. It was the best decision I've ever made.
In the past I've had Renaults, Vauxhalls and Peugeots but as soon as I sat in the Jetta it was in a different class to the others.

It's a great car to drive, very sturdy and well built as all VW's are and it has more than enough power for overtaking as well as motorway cruising at leisure.

Running costs are very good for a big engine like this, takin £65 to fill it to the throat and then getting 530-550 miles to the tank, driving with manners.

Never have had any issues with the car, it has never missed a beat and the service intervals are usually every 20k miles although i'll do mine annually to keep her smooth.

Don't think I'll ever go back to previous brands in the future, once you have driven a solid car like this then an Insignia feels like a bag of bottles.

I always wanted one of these. So when i had kids i bought my partner one. Fantastic family car were you know you and the family are going to be very safe in it! In 2 years of driving I can honestly say i haven't had any bother with the jeep, only having to pay for usual servicing and a few tyres. Mine had a full service history when I purchased it so i would say this is an important thing to look for. Amazing in the snow only problem being you will end up towing friends/family out of trouble :)

This is a super car which I've owned for 18mts and it covered just under 70k of which I've done 30. Everyday running the car is no hastle and is a good car to drive on the commute as its comfortable and quite but as it's a 170 overtaking is easy and if your in a rush it will easily do the job.
Fuel economy is ok too once you get over the initial shock of the 65ltr tank. Generally I
See a full 600 mile to one tank and the OBC generally averages about 44mpg. The tax is a bit expensive at 175 but I think it's worth it for the few extra horses. I bought the car due to a new arrival and all the gear that goes along with it and the boot on this car is massive plenty of room for a buggy and the weekly shopping. In the cabin however it's actually a bit tight once the baby seat is behind the passenger that seat needs to be fully forward so the child has leg too also the way the back narrows you won't seat three adults in the back of this car and leg room behind the driver is poor also but the seats are comfortable and supportive and have great adjustment on them so achieving a perfect driving position is easy. As for toys my sport model has everything auto lights auto wipers and climate control. The stereo is good as standard but I personally wouldn't have minded the Bose upgrade similar to the a4.

Big bug bear with this car is the front suspension. It seems to be a fault with the style of it and the passat a4 and a skoda I think suffer the same. At about 60k the front of the car rattles and bumps going slow over uneven roads. Now I pulled out the whole top section and replaced it and it did fix it but it cost 400 for parts which around the same time as the timing belt was a big chunk of money to throw at a relatively fresh car but I suppose the excellent ride and handling has some cost. I did fit febi parts as I was assured they are superior to seat or audi parts so I will see in another 60k I suppose.

Overall this is a super car it looks sharp has plenty of toys and gadgets to keep you in control and entertained as you go about your driving. I would consider a second one come time to change as I am so pleased with it.

2001 Jeep Cherokee 4.0 60th Anniversary

2001 Jeep Cherokee Petrol Automatic 4x4 by The Cherokee • 6th November 2013
I absolutely love this old Jeep. This is my third Cherokee and I adore their lumpy, punchy and thirsty 4.0 engine as well as their rugged charm.
It's no S Class to drive but their rather basic 1980s engineering is what makes it so enjoyable to drive. It's boxy body and straight lines are just so retro and is what Jeep Heads love about them.
Inside, well it's funky American plastic all round and the leather is comfortable and hard wearing. The Limited, Orvis and 60th Anniversary models all come very well equipped with plenty of extras inside and out.

If I was able to criticise this Jeep in any way be careful in the the wet/ice when in 2 wheel drive, it slides out very easily as there is so much power however it will pull anything you need it to but at a cost as even when not towing it loves the stuff. I average around 17mpg but it's worth every penny because every time I get behind the wheel, I smile!!!

In 4 words: ICONIC, RETRO & GREAT FUN !!!

Well the car drives smoothly and is fuel efficient when well serviced. You get a pop up reminder to service the car after a certain millage. The boot is spacious can fit in loads of shopping and baby's pushchair ideal for family. Has the added rear view camera when parking. Easy to find spare parts at reasonable prices.

LAND ROVER DEFENDER 90 200Tdi

1990 Land Rover Defender Diesel Manual Pickup by Mick • 20th September 2013
I found mine to have a very spartan interior and drive like a small lorry but with a bit of care and attention it just goes on and on.

They have a very generous towing limit of 3.5 tonnes and are very capable of towing it, something which nearly all of competition just cannot do, legally.

I found that spares are readily available both new and secondhand.

In my opinion the 200Tdi engine, which has a proven record of reliability, is probably the best of the bunch, as it doesn't have any niggling electronic control units to worry about. This results in an engine which is easy to repair by any competent mechanic as a computer is not required to reset or setup the engine.

The four wheel drive system is a direct implant from the Range Rover, with high and low gear ranges, a total of 10 forward and 2 reverse gears are available as well as a diff lock in all gears.

If you are thinking of buying one be sure to check out the following:

Make sure that the high/low gear selector and diff lock are all working as they should.

Also make sure you get under and check the chassis is not rotten especially the section just behind the front wheels, and just in front of the rear wheels. The rear crossmember is prone to rust as well. These are all MOT fails. A chassis which has been professionally welded will be OK but check for a bodged job and be prepared to walk away. A replacement chassis would not be a consideration.

Check out the steering box, engine, and gearbox/transfer box for oil leaks. You will usually find these are all leaking, a small amount of oil is acceptable but a drip will cost money and may be a MOT fail.

Look at the swivel joints on the ends of the front axle on the inside of the wheels, you will have to get underneath again. Make sure that the shiney silver swivels are not pitted with rust and are not leaking oil as these are expensive to repair and are an MOT fail.

Check the interior seats are OK and not badly worn or torn, they are an easy fix but expensive to replace.

This is my first time to buy a Nissan. I opted for 2.0dci engine as after test drive of smaller 1.5dci found it slightly underpowered and the engine bit rattily. Having covered over 60k apart from regular servicing I have had no major issues. I am in process of changing and will be having a look at 1.6dci.
