Bought a Polo Automatic for my son, lovely to drive, very solid and parts prices are very reasonable. Extremely economical. The only downside is the excessive cost of insurance for a young, male driver with the 1.4 engine. Otherwise, hard to fault.

My first (and last) Golf.
Multitudr of faults with mark 4 golfs.
When first bought I had to repace the front anti roll bar bushes (£££)
Then the driver side electric window broke (££)
Then one of the front springs broke, while inspecting this the other was noted to be near broken (£££)
The car started running like a pig - cutting out and erratic tick-over
the started motor started sticking on -
the door handles broke on both front doors
then a rear axel bush went (£££)
the wipers wont switch off sometimes and when they do the stop halfway up the windscreen
interior lights stopped working

So much for Volkswagen reilability :(
